The MIMSafe VarioCage Single Large is an adjustable dog car crate designed to provide a secure, protective space for one dog during vehicle travel while leaving room in the boot for luggage. Its telescopic construction allows the depth to be adjusted to suit the available boot space, helping you make better use of your vehicle without compromising the protected space around your dog.
Part of the 4th generation VarioCage range, this single dog crate combines a controlled deformation zone with a strong, energy-absorbing structure designed for vehicle transport. It is suitable for SUVs, estate cars and hatchbacks when correctly installed behind the rear seat.

Safety
The VarioCage Single has undergone rigorous crash testing at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden using the SPCT (Safe Pet Crate Test) method. The test protocol covers three relevant crash scenarios for a dog crate: frontal impact, rear impact and a corner-drop test designed to replicate the effects of a vehicle rollover. The crash pulse used is based on ECE Regulation No. 17.
The built-in deformation zone is designed to allow controlled compression along the vehicle's crumple zone during a collision, helping reduce the risk of direct impact being transferred towards rear-seat passengers. The crate is designed to be shockproof in all directions.
The VarioCage should be installed behind the vehicle's rear seat and secured to the vehicle's cargo loops. When installing the crate, use at least two straps to secure it in the boot and prevent movement during transport.
After a collision, the VarioCage should be taken out of use. Its energy-absorbing deformation zones are intended to work as part of the crash protection system and may be compromised after an impact.

Materials & construction
The VarioCage is constructed from galvanised steel with a weather-resistant powder-coated finish. The structure uses splinter-proof and energy-absorbing materials and is designed to provide protection from impacts in multiple directions.
The door incorporates reinforced construction, a built-in lock and gas-assisted opening. Door handles can also be used as convenient storage pockets.
Size & dimensions
The correct VarioCage size should be chosen according to both your vehicle's available boot space and your dog's size. As a guide, the dog's height at the withers plus 5 cm should fit within the cage's internal height (H2). For this Large model, that gives a recommended maximum withers height of approximately 58 cm.

Always check the available width, height and boot-floor length of your vehicle before ordering. The tailgate opening and wheel arches can affect the usable space, so measuring the narrowest and lowest points is important.

Easy order and quick delivery
Great buggy for my 15 year old cockapoo - eased him into it over a week and by the weekend he was loving the opportunity to rest his legs on our walks - well built, easy to assemble and Manöver. Plenty of room for the dog to sit or lie down with handy entry and exit options at the front and back. Did some off road adventures with him in Sussex which resulted in a slow puncture which was easy to fix with a bicycle repair kit - would recommend and have done so already!

Great pram for our Parson Russell Terrier, good size for him, easy to set up/pack down and easy to manoeuvre. Quite sturdy, feels safe when he’s in it. Wasn’t sure if he would go in but he seems to enjoy himself in there. He’s almost 13 and gets a bit tired on a longer walk so it’s great to give him a bit of a break. Would thoroughly recommend it, a reasonably priced nice looking pram.
